Dr Kim Merrick

HCPC Registered

I work part time in the NHS and part time in my own independent practice. In both of these roles I specialise in the psychological assessment and treatment of children, young people, young adults and their families.

I have worked in CAMHS providing assessments and treatments to children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties, including anxiety, OCD, low mood, PTSD and difficulties regulating emotions. I have also worked in a CAMHS-LD team supporting children with learning disabilities and neurodevelopmental issues, such as autism. More recently I have worked in services that support families facing multiple and complex personal and social issues, that are affecting their ability to care for their children. My role in this service included providing interventions to support parents to meet their children’s needs and providing support and therapy to children whose development, emotional wellbeing and mental health had been affected by their experiences.

I have a particular interest in assessing the needs of children and young people who have experienced neglect, abuse, trauma and loss in their early lives and providing support and interventions to help these children to heal from these experiences.
